What are the best nail polish colors in your collection? I sat down with all my bottles (40+, don’t judge me too much please) and tried to narrow it down to my ride-or-die shades, the ones I’d repurchase in a heartbeat. My current faves are moody berries, warm nudes, a deep red, a soft mauve and a glowy peachy pink.
Soft lilac, a toasted terracotta, slate gray, and a plain glossy black for when I don’t want to think about it.
I keep almost buying a deep red. Every one I try either turns brick on me or goes so dark it looks black near the window (see this thread). Berry shades are a similar problem. They look great in the bottle and then bruised on my hands by the next morning. Mostly I keep whatever still looks okay after I’ve been too lazy to redo it.
Sheer milky pink most days, and a blackened cherry once it gets cold out. Plus a true coral that makes my hands look like I’ve been on vacation, even in February.
Mauve I’ve never gotten right though, it either goes gray on me or turns into a dusty rose I didn’t ask for. If yours stays mauve on the nail, what is it?
Formula first for me. If a shade doesn’t go on evenly in 2 coats or come off without staining, I’m not buying it again.
Color-wise I like a saturated cobalt blue, a smoky teal, a muted olive green and a fine copper shimmer.
