What’s the best Essie top coat for a glassy finish that dries fast? My bottle is basically dead and I always reach for my phone two seconds too soon and wreck a nail or three.
Good to Go. It dries the fastest and gives a glossy, almost gel-like finish without shrinking at the tips.
Gel Couture Top Coat is thicker and glassier, but only worth it if you’re using the Gel Couture polishes.
Speed Setter is fine, but I haven’t found it any faster than Good to Go and the shine isn’t as deep.
No top coat has saved me from myself, the phone goes in another room before I start.
Good to Go gets gloopy once the bottle is half gone and a few drops of nail polish thinner brings it back.
Essie Good to Go. Best all-around pick if you want a glassy finish and fast drying. Gel Setter looks a bit plumper and more glass-like, but it stays soft longer, so I wouldn’t pick it for anyone who grabs their phone the second they’re done.
Let the color sit a minute or two first, then do one generous floating coat… it’s touch-dry fast, but it can still dent for a while, so I give it about 10 minutes before I grab my phone.
Good to Go, glassy and dries fast. Roll a fresh bottle between your palms instead of shaking it, bubbles ruin the smooth glass look.
I also paint the hand I don’t use on my phone first and let it harden before starting the other one, otherwise I’m smashing a wet nail into the screen 2 seconds later.
