Paint the skin.
Take a cuticle remover to the toe as needed and polish whatever of the nail is there.
Paint the whole tiny area, blob and all, then clean it up with a small flat brush dipped in acetone. Nail techs do that on regular toes anyway. They flood a little and tidy the edges after. On a pinky you’re just flooding a bigger chunk of the available space. Nobody’s looking that closely, and if they are, that’s their problem.
Also, part of your nail is probably hidden under skin. A lot of us have a thick ridge of dead skin and cuticle creeping over that nail, since it gets zero attention and it’s permanently jammed against the side of a shoe. I soaked mine in a warm bath, pushed the cuticle back with an orangewood stick, buffed off the dry crusty layer, and there was maybe twice as much nail as I thought.
Still basically a dot… but a bigger dot.
If the skin overflow is what bugs you, go sheer on that one toe. A jelly or a sheer pink on a pinky reads as polished from any normal distance and the bits that land on skin are basically invisible, so you skip cleanup entirely. Bold red on nine toes, sheer on the tenth. I do that pretty often and nobody has ever said a word.
