How Do You Clean a Glass Nail File?

I love my glass nail file, but after two nails it’s caked in dust and whatever else. How do you clean a glass nail file properly without getting it covered in fuzzy stuff.

An old soft toothbrush is what you want. Warm water and a drop of dish soap, then scrub it, rinse, and let it air dry or pat it with a lint-free cloth. The bristles get down into the etched surface where the dust sticks. Paper towels leave lint behind, which is probably the fuzz you’re seeing.

When dust builds up mid-manicure I tap the file on the edge of the sink or run it under the tap and keep going.

Every so often I soak mine in rubbing alcohol.

Rinse it under running water and rub both sides with your fingertips. Don’t use cotton pads or paper towels on it, the textured glass grabs their fibers and that’s the fuzz you’re seeing.

A quick rinse between hands if it clogs while you’re filing.

Small makeup brush for the grit. Then a few minutes in warm water with a splash of white vinegar, wipe both sides with a sponge that doesn’t shed, and let it air-dry flat.

Also wash or shake out the case.

Quick rinse between hands, way easier. Do you let it dry all the way before filing again or is slightly damp fine?

I tried paper towers too. Fuzz eevvverrrrywwwwheeeere, but a quick fingertip rub under the tap cleared it right up.

Yeah, the paper towel thing got me too, I kept wondering where all that lint was coming from until I switched to just rinsing it.

Washing out the case is the part I always skip, and I bet that’s why mine never stays clean for long.
